Elgato Launches the Prompter XL for $599.99
Elgato has announced the release of the Prompter XL, a new teleprompter designed for studio environments, priced at $599.99. The product features a larger 15.6-inch LCD display, allowing for more extensive use in corporate AV setups, podcast rooms, and presentations, reports 24brussels.
The display boasts a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, enhancing visibility compared to the original Prompter, which had a 9-inch panel with a resolution of 1024 x 600. This upgrade positions the Prompter XL as a valuable tool for users needing high-quality visuals during their engagements.
The increased size accommodates DSLR and mirrorless cameras with lenses measuring up to 22cm in length, expanding the device’s versatility beyond its predecessor, which supported only short to medium lenses. While it remains usable with webcams and smartphones, a third-party adapter is required. Elgato includes a camera bracket and various backplates for diverse camera lens sizes.
Similar to the original, the Prompter XL integrates with Elgato’s Camera Hub software, providing users with control over scrolling text. It supports pairing with a Stream Deck for enhanced playback control, offering practical functions for dynamic presentations.
While it can serve as a secondary monitor due to its size, the Prompter XL weighs significantly more at 7.43 lbs, necessitating consideration for tripod and mounting compatibility, though it generally works with standard setups. Users must also ensure a power supply of 15 watts over USB-C 3.2, which could require a hub if their port does not meet these specifications.
The Prompter XL is now available for purchase at a retail price of $599.99 in the United States, €599.99 in Europe, and £499.99 in the UK.
