Fi Mini: The Compact GPS Tracker for Pets Launched

Fi, a pet technology company renowned for its innovative smart dog collars, has unveiled the Fi Mini, a clip-on GPS tracker tailored for cats and small dogs. Designed for precise tracking, the device is lightweight at just 0.56 ounces (16 grams) and allows pet owners to receive real-time escape alerts while monitoring their pets’ locations via an accompanying app, reports 24brussels.

Set to retail at $129 annually as part of a subscription service, the Fi Mini can be attached to any collar or harness measuring up to 1 inch wide. Additionally, it is compatible with animals of various sizes. Measuring 42mm in length and 30mm in width, the Fi Mini is somewhat larger than an Apple AirTag, yet remains lighter than Tractive’s Cat Mini tracker, which is being discontinued following their acquisition of Whistle.

Upon attachment, users can expect a battery life lasting up to three weeks, or up to three months when paired with the Fi base that optimizes power usage. The device supports USB-C charging and boasts an IP68 rating, ensuring it is both dust-tight and waterproof. Utilizing Verizon’s LTE-M cellular network, the tracker provides accurate location sharing and tracks pets’ activity history.

The Fi Mini includes functionality for activity and sleep tracking, and this fall will introduce AI-driven behavior detection alerts for barking, scratching, eating, drinking, and licking. Future updates will also integrate the product with Apple Watch, aligning it with the features of the Series 3 Plus smart collar.

Currently available for purchase, the Fi Mini is scheduled to begin shipping on September 1st.
