Framework unveils first 240W USB-C charger for laptops, setting industry standard

Framework Launches First Standards-Compliant 240W USB-C Power Adapter

Framework, a notable player in the PC industry, has announced the launch of the first standards-compliant 240W USB-C power adapter, marking a significant milestone for portable computing. The preorders opened today, fulfilling the promise of delivering robust power through a single USB connection, reports 24brussels.

Four and a quarter years after the first mention of USB-C’s potential for high-output power delivery, Framework is leading the way by not only offering this charger but also being the first to feature a laptop capable of utilizing the 240W USB-C PD technology. Unlike conventional chargers, Framework’s product is designed to offer compactness without compromising capability.

The charger retails at $109, a competitive price compared to similar offerings from Delta and Ugreen, both of which are priced at $200. This new charger replaces the previous 180W USB-C PD charger that had limitations in powering and charging Framework’s advanced Laptop 16 during intensive gaming sessions. CEO Nirav Patel confirmed that the new charger ensures no power drain occurs during high-performance scenarios.

While there are alternative devices claiming 240W compatibility, Framework distinguishes itself by delivering a true USB-C PD experience within the increasingly modular laptop market. Its capability includes enhancing the user experience by allowing graphics upgrades—a significant advancement in laptop technology.

Framework continues to demonstrate its leadership in the industry, following its earlier introduction of the first 180W PD charger and maintaining an ongoing commitment to innovation in upgradable laptop solutions. The transition to a 240W format not only signifies technological advancement but also highlights the company’s resolve in redefining portable computing standards.
