Google introduces AI scheduling tool in Gmail to streamline meeting planning

Google Introduces AI-Powered Scheduling Feature for Gmail

Google has launched its new AI-powered “Help me schedule” feature, which leverages Gemini AI to suggest meeting times based on the user’s Google Calendar and the context of their email. This tool aims to streamline the process of scheduling meetings with coworkers and clients, reports 24brussels.

The “Help me schedule” option automatically prompts within the email composition window when the AI detects an intention to arrange a meeting. Users can click to view available time slots that can be easily inserted into their message. For instance, if a colleague requests a 30-minute meeting next week, the system will identify suitable 30-minute slots based on the user’s availability.

This feature allows users to edit suggested meeting times and add further slots. Once a recipient selects a time from the email, a calendar invite is automatically generated for both parties. “Help me schedule” is part of Google’s broader initiative to enhance Gmail with AI capabilities, including email summaries and an “Add to Calendar” functionality for applicable messages about upcoming events.

Currently, this scheduling tool supports one-on-one meetings only, and it is being rolled out for Workspace customers as well as Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. As digital communication evolves, innovations like these reflect a growing reliance on technology to improve productivity in professional settings.
