Google launches AI feature for virtual shoe try-ons without need for personal photos

Google Introduces AI Shoe Try-On Feature

On October 8, 2025, Google announced a new feature that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to enable users to “try on” shoes virtually from the comfort of their homes. Through Google Shopping, customers can click the “try it on” button while browsing various shoe styles, allowing them to visualize how different pairs might appear on their feet, reports 24brussels.

No personal pictures of users’ feet are necessary for this feature. Users can upload a full-length image of themselves, which Google’s AI will then use to superimpose various shoe styles, including options such as black heels or unique sneakers.

This latest development follows prior testing by Google, which began in May 2025 with clothing items such as shirts, pants, and dresses. The clothing try-on feature became accessible to all U.S. users by July 2025. Now, in addition to shoes, Google is also set to expand its AI try-on capabilities to various types of apparel in Australia, Canada, and Japan in the upcoming weeks.

The introduction of AI-driven virtual try-ons signals a significant shift in online shopping, enhancing user engagement by providing a more interactive and personalized experience. This move reflects Google’s ongoing investment in artificial intelligence and its commitment to transforming how consumers approach online retail.
