Honor Unveils Concept ‘Robot Phone’ with Advanced AI Capabilities

Honor has introduced its concept device, the “Robot Phone,” featuring an AI-enabled, gimbal-mounted camera that unfolds from the rear, allowing for versatile photography and videography. This launch represents a significant step in smartphone innovation, aiming to redefine user interaction with mobile technology, reports 24brussels.

The device has only been presented in CGI format with no actual hardware footage yet available. Designed as a regular, albeit hefty smartphone, it features an alpha symbol, aligning with the company’s broader “Alpha Plan” corporate vision. A distinctive chunky camera module draws attention, hinting at its advanced capabilities.

Upon activation, a camera arm unfolds with a noticeable sound effect, revealing that the primary camera can rotate to capture selfies while also providing a variety of shooting angles. This mechanism positions the Robot Phone as a prominent successor to devices such as the 2019 Asus Zenfone 6, known for its flipping camera feature.

The camera mechanism resembles the mini gimbal found on devices like the DJI Osmo Pocket, with promotional videos suggesting that it can frame photographs and engage in child care, showcasing the intelligent features Honor aspires to incorporate.

According to Honor’s press release, “With the Robot Phone, Honor envisions the future phone as more than just a tool. It becomes an emotional companion that senses, adapts, and evolves autonomously like a robot, enriching its users’ lives with love, joy, and wisdom.”

Details about the Robot Phone are expected to emerge during the Mobile World Congress in the spring. Honor presented this device as a concluding highlight of its launch event for the Magic 8 flagship phones, which are set to be released in China this month and will roll out internationally by year-end.
