Honor Launches New Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro with Impressive Battery Life
Honor unveiled its Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro smartphones during a launch event in China on October 15, 2025, featuring some of the largest batteries in mainstream mobile devices. The international launch is expected later this year, reports 24brussels.
The Magic 8 Pro boasts a substantial 7,200mAh battery, while the standard Magic 8 is equipped with a 7,000mAh battery. Although these capacities fall short of the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max’s 7,500mAh, Honor claims its devices will outperform Xiaomi’s due to superior optimization. Specific details on the expected battery life have not been disclosed, but users can anticipate a couple of days under normal usage conditions.
International versions of the Pro will see a slight reduction in battery size, with a 7,100mAh capacity in most global markets, and a smaller 6,270mAh battery set for European markets. This reduction is likely attributed to shipping regulations concerning batteries. Charging capabilities will differ as well, featuring a maximum wired speed of 120W in China and 100W PPS support for global markets, alongside wireless charging support of up to 80W, contingent upon using Honor’s charger.
Artificial intelligence features are a highlight of the new devices. The Magic 8 series includes a dedicated AI button that acts as a shortcut for the Yoyo assistant and doubles as a camera shutter release. This button can also be customized for other functions, including Yoyo Memories, an AI-enabled storage solution for photos and documents.
Camera specifications maintain a level of familiarity with last year’s Magic 7 Pro, featuring a 50-megapixel main camera with a fixed f/1.6 lens, complemented by a 200-megapixel telephoto lens with 3.7x zoom and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. The regular Magic 8 shares the same ultrawide camera but downsizes its main sensor and telephoto capabilities, reducing the telephoto to 64 megapixels with a shorter zoom distance.
Powering both models is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, accompanied by 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage in the global variant. Honor has also highlighted its devices’ durability with an IP68 and IP69K rating, though it clarifies that the added “K” designation pertains to water jet testing.
Both the Magic 8 and 8 Pro operate on MagicOS 10, built atop Android 16, and feature a translucent visual design with semi-transparent elements reminiscent of Liquid Glass. In addition to the smartphones, Honor introduced the new Earbuds 4, Watch 5 Pro, and three MagicPad 3 tablets. The Magic 8 is priced at ¥4,499 (approximately $630), while the Magic 8 Pro costs ¥5,699 (about $800), with promises of an international rollout later this year.
Update, October 15th: Added Chinese pricing for both phones and specifications for the standard Magic 8.
