Jane Goodall Speaks Candidly in Final Interview on Netflix Series

In a striking new episode of Netflix’s series Famous Last Words, environmentalist and primatologist Jane Goodall made headlines with her unfiltered remarks about global leaders, suggesting they should be sent on a one-way journey to space. This episode, believed to be her last interview, highlights her views on influential figures, including Elon Musk, Donald Trump, and Vladimir Putin, amid the ongoing series that features conversations with notable personalities only after they have passed away, reports 24brussels.

The series, an adaptation of the Danish show Det Sidste Ord (The Last Word), showcases interviews conducted by Brad Falchuk, famed for co-creating American Horror Story and Glee. During these interviews, conducted in an intimate setting with remote cameras, participants are often asked to reflect on their legacies, with Falchuk framing discussions in the past tense by reminding them “they are dead.”

Goodall’s episode signifies a trend towards revealing candid opinions from those no longer encumbered by worries over public perception. Known for her straightforward approach, Goodall did not shy away from voicing her opinions regarding figures she disapproves of, stating:

“Absolutely there are people I don’t like, and I would like to put them on one of Musk’s spaceships and send them all off to the planet he’s sure he’s going to discover … He’d be the host … Along with Musk would be Trump … And then I would put Putin in there. And I would put President Xi. I’d certainly put Netanyahu in there, and his far-right government. Put them all on that spaceship and send them off.” – Jane Goodall

The comments have sparked considerable discussion about the moral responsibility of influential leaders and the most pressing issues facing society today. Goodall’s insights highlight her long-standing commitment to advocacy for both the environment and animal rights while underscoring her unyielding stance on global governance.

As the series progresses, it will continue to present a unique perspective on the lives and legacies of its subjects, potentially challenging viewers to reflect on their own views about contemporary leadership and collective responsibility.
