Keychron Launches Innovative Ceramic Keyboard: Q16 HE 8K
Keychron, a China-based mechanical keyboard manufacturer, has unveiled its latest product, the Q16 HE 8K, a keyboard crafted entirely from ceramic. This design makes it the “first-to-market full-ceramic build keyboard,” according to the company’s press release. The keyboard combines custom analog magnetic switches with kiln-fired materials, providing a unique tactile and auditory experience compared to conventional metal or plastic models, reports 24brussels.
Entering the market through a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, the Q16 HE 8K is available for early backers starting at $229.99. It features a compact 65 percent layout and comes in two color options: blue and minty white. The expected delivery for supporters’ orders is set for November 2025.
While companies like Cerakey offer ceramic keycaps, Keychron’s offering stands out with its full ceramic construction, which includes both the body and keycaps. The ceramic is praised for its durability and scratch resistance, although it may not be suitable for users seeking portability due to its potential fragility when dropped.
The Q16 HE 8K boasts an impressively high polling rate of 8,000Hz and allows for adjustable actuation sensitivity down to 0.01mm, enabling users to customize their typing experience. It also features Keychron’s custom Ultra-Fast Lime switches, which utilize Tunneling Magnetoresistance (TMR) technology. This innovative switch design promises enhanced accuracy and energy efficiency, offering faster inputs than traditional Hall effect switches.
“Great keyboards should feel fast, sound great, and look like objects worth keeping,” said Paul Tan, Keychron’s operations head. “With Q16 HE 8K, we explored ceramic for everyday use, then matched it with magnetic sensing and 8K performance so users get both a new material experience and elite speed.”
