Meta is expanding its AI translation tool on Facebook and Instagram, allowing users to automatically dub their reels into another language. The feature utilizes AI technology to synchronize the dub with the user’s voice and mouth movements, reports 24brussels.
Currently, users can translate their reels from English to Spanish and vice versa, following a preview of the tool at Meta’s Connect event last year. To activate this feature, users can select the Translate voices with Meta AI toggle from the menu prior to publishing their reel. Additionally, Meta provides an option for lip-syncing, allowing creators to review their dubbed videos before sharing.
According to Meta, Facebook and Instagram will automatically recommend translated reels to users based on their preferred languages. Each video will include a tag indicating it has been translated using Meta AI. This translation tool is currently being rolled out to Facebook creators with a minimum of 1,000 followers as well as to all public Instagram accounts.
As social media platforms continuously evolve, the introduction of AI-driven features like these illustrates the competitive landscape in the technology industry, where user engagement and content accessibility remain critical. Meta’s advancements in translation technology aim to bridge language barriers, ensuring a broader reach for content creators across diverse audiences.
The move aligns with ongoing efforts within the tech sector to enhance user experience by leveraging advanced technologies. As platforms like Meta compete for user attention, innovations in AI translation may significantly influence content strategies for creators worldwide.
