Microsoft Enhances AI Search Capabilities with Copilot Update
On August 20, 2025, Microsoft announced an update for Windows 11 that introduces advanced AI-driven search capabilities within the Copilot app. This update, currently rolling out to Windows Insiders using Copilot Plus PCs, allows users to utilize more descriptive language for file and image searches, reports 24brussels.
The enhanced features include the ability to specify search queries beyond simply file names or types. Users can now describe what they are looking for, such as “find the file with the chicken tostada recipe.” This improvement builds on Microsoft’s earlier launch of AI-powered search, which focused primarily on basic queries.
Additionally, Microsoft is testing a new Copilot home experience that showcases users’ recent applications, files, and conversations. Within this interface, selecting an app from the “get guided help” segment prompts Copilot to initiate a Vision session. This feature scans the entire screen and directs users through their selected app, making navigation more intuitive.
Another innovative aspect of the update allows users to upload images directly to Copilot. By selecting recent photos from the left side of the screen, users can inquire about these images and receive detailed information from the AI assistant.
These features are being gradually released across all Insider channels via the Microsoft Store, aiming to provide a more comprehensive assistance experience for users navigating their digital environments.
