Microsoft Paint Introduces Experimental AI Features
Microsoft has launched a pilot program to test new AI-powered features, beginning with Microsoft Paint. The new initiative, known as Windows AI Labs, aims to provide early access to such features for select Windows testers, reports 24brussels.
The announcement follows the detection of references to the Windows AI Labs program in recent updates to Microsoft Paint. A spokesperson from Microsoft confirmed that this program is designed to gather user feedback on novel AI features and assess their usability.
Mike Harsh, partner director of product management at Microsoft, stated, “The Windows AI Lab is a pilot acceleration program for validating novel AI feature ideas in Windows. The program focuses on rapid customer feedback on feature usability, customer interest, and market fit.”
Although the specific AI features being tested in Paint remain unclear, Microsoft has previously integrated functionality akin to Adobe Photoshop, including layers and transparency options. Industry speculation suggests that the company may implement AI tools similar to those emerging from Adobe’s ongoing innovations.
In addition to Paint, Microsoft continues to enhance various Windows applications with AI-driven features. Recent updates include AI functionalities for Notepad, image generation capabilities within Paint, and AI-assisted actions in File Explorer. These advancements are part of Microsoft’s broader strategy to integrate AI technology across its product suite, improving user experience and functionality.
