Netgear Launches Affordable Orbi 370 Wi-Fi 7 Mesh System
Netgear has unveiled the Orbi 370 mesh router series, the newest addition to its Wi-Fi 7 lineup, with a starting price of $249.99 for a two-pack system. This price point is significantly lower than previous offerings from the company, marking a strategic move to capture a broader consumer base, reports 24brussels.
The entry-level Orbi 370 comes with a router and a single satellite, catering to smaller households while also allowing for network expansion with additional satellites priced at $149.99 each. The system is designed to support speeds up to 5Gbps and is compatible with any service provider, according to Netgear.
Both the router and satellites feature integrated 2.5Gbps Ethernet ports, suitable for demanding devices like gaming consoles and smart TVs. The system supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, with the capability for Multi-Link Operation (MLO) to enhance download speeds and reduce latency for Wi-Fi 7 devices.
Netgear targets this offering towards households with moderate Wi-Fi needs while also appealing to users looking to upgrade from legacy network standards. The Orbi 370 remains backward compatible with Wi-Fi 4, 5, 6, and 6E, allowing users to enjoy improved connectivity even if not all devices support Wi-Fi 7.
While Wi-Fi 7 devices are still relatively rare in the market, the potential improvements in wireless stability offered by the MLO feature are expected to benefit older Wi-Fi standards, making the Orbi 370 a worthwhile investment for future-proofing home networks.
