Samsung has officially unveiled its latest 115-inch TV featuring innovative Micro RGB backlight technology, retailing for over $32,000. The new model debuted in South Korea and is expected to be available in the US soon, followed by a broader global rollout, reports 24brussels.

Designed as an enhancement over traditional Mini LED backlighting, this Micro RGB technology utilizes an array of precisely controlled red, green, and blue LEDs—each smaller than 100µm. This advancement promises superior color accuracy and improved contrast, enabling a more immersive viewing experience.

Operating on Samsung’s proprietary Micro RGB AI engine, the TV analyzes and optimizes color output in real time, enhancing dull scenes for a more vivid portrayal. Notably, this new backlight technology is less costly to produce compared to MicroLED TVs, offering a competitive price point as Samsung launches the 115-inch model at KRW 44.9 million (approximately $32,362), compared to its smaller MicroLED counterpart priced at $150,000 in the US.

Along with a 4K resolution, the TV boasts features such as a variable refresh rate of 144Hz, AI upscaling, HDR10+ support, and a comprehensive 70-watt 4.2.2 sound system compatible with Dolby Atmos. Connectivity options include four HDMI 2.0 ports, two USB-A ports, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities. Additionally, it acts as a Matter controller, allowing seamless integration with smart home technologies, including synchronization with Philips Hue lights.

This new offering comes as several tech companies, including Sony and Hisense, explore upgraded Mini LED technologies. At CES 2025, Hisense introduced its 116-inch TriChroma LED TV, utilizing RGB Local Dimming Technology. However, Samsung asserts that its Micro RGB system sets a new standard, achieving 100 percent of the BT.2020 color space for unmatched color precision, making it arguably one of the most accurate televisions available on the market.
