TCL Launches New Tab 8 with Innovative Display Technology
TCL introduced its latest tablet, the Tab 8, featuring an advanced Nxtpaper display technology designed to reduce eye strain, reports 24brussels.
Unveiled on September 26, 2025, the Tab 8 utilizes a unique 8.7-inch display that allows users to switch between color and monochrome modes. Marketed as a potent alternative to conventional e-readers like the Kindle Colorsoft, which has limitations in color reproduction, the Tab 8 is positioned within a range of devices aimed at enhancing visual comfort.
The Tab 8, available exclusively through Verizon for $199.99, will soon be accessible at Total Wireless stores. This price point undercuts several competitors, including other Nxtpaper devices, and offers access to the expansive library of the Kindle app, due to its Android 15 operating system.
TCL’s Nxtpaper technology, unlike traditional reflective display systems, features a glass screen with a matte finish that minimizes glare. This second-generation upgrade also promises to reduce common issues found in matte displays, enhancing the reading experience.
Key specifications of the tablet include an unspecified octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage via microSD. It supports 5G connectivity and includes an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Users can expect a substantial 6,000mAh battery that TCL claims will last up to 16 hours on a single charge, making it versatile for various multimedia applications beyond just reading.
Nxtpaper also incorporates technology that minimizes blue light exposure and screen flickering, allowing for comfortable prolonged use characterized by a toggle feature between vibrant color displays and softer monochromatic settings.
As TCL expands its Nxtpaper lineup, the Tab 8 embodies a strategic effort to tap into the e-reader market while competing with conventional tablets. Its unique capabilities are expected to attract users who prioritize visual comfort alongside functionality.
