Uber Eats Introduces AI Features for Enhanced Customer Experience
Uber Eats is set to enhance its platform with generative AI features aimed at improving menu presentation and customer engagement. The food delivery service announced the rollout on July 31, 2025, which includes AI-generated menu descriptions, food photos, review summaries, a live chat tool, and a system for compensating customers for submitted pictures, reports 24brussels.
The new AI tools will generate descriptions for menu items and summarize customer reviews, providing businesses with insights into areas that may need improvement. Furthermore, Uber Eats will employ AI to “detect and enhance low-quality food images” on menus, optimizing aspects such as lighting, resolution, and composition. This may involve adjusting the food’s appearance, thereby enhancing its visual appeal.
A significant feature allows customers to upload photos of their own orders when they leave reviews for menu items lacking images. This initiative will be globally accessible, with potential payments in app credits offered to customers in markets including the US, UK, Canada, and Mexico whose photos are published.
Additionally, the newly introduced Live Order Chat feature enables businesses to communicate directly with customers to resolve any issues prior to order dispatch. Merchants can initiate real-time interactions to clarify special requests, check dietary restrictions, or inform customers about unavailable items and suggest alternatives.
The combination of user-uploaded images and the Live Order Chat feature aims to provide customers with clearer expectations for their orders. However, the reliability of AI-generated content remains uncertain, and its effectiveness will become clearer as these tools begin to appear on menus. As Uber Eats continues to innovate, it will likely reshape the landscape of food delivery experience significantly.
