Microsoft Expands Xbox Cloud Gaming to LG-Powered Vehicles
Microsoft and LG have announced a collaboration that will enable Xbox cloud gaming on vehicles integrated with LG’s Automotive Content Platform (ACP). This innovative partnership allows Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream games directly on in-car displays, enhancing the gaming experience for drivers and passengers alike, reports 24brussels.
The newly developed Xbox app will function while the vehicle is charging or when entertaining passengers during road trips. Currently, LG’s ACP is available on the Kia EV3 in Europe, with plans to extend to additional Kia models including the EV4, EV5, and Sportage. This platform operates on LG’s webOS, the same operating system used in its smart TVs, providing users access to various entertainment options, including Netflix, Disney Plus, and YouTube.
Earlier this year, Microsoft successfully integrated the Xbox app with LG smart TVs, marking a significant step towards expanding Xbox Cloud Gaming. As the company plans to roll out Xbox Cloud Gaming to Game Pass Core and Standard subscribers, this development exemplifies a strategic growth initiative. “Our work with LG is the latest example of Xbox expanding to new places, building on partnerships that already bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to mobile devices, PCs, and TVs,” stated Christopher Lee, the vice president of Xbox marketing. “By adding vehicles to the mix, we’re giving players more choice than ever in how they enjoy their games.”
In addition to expanding to vehicles, Microsoft recently announced its return to the Tokyo Game Show later this month, with a stream scheduled for September 25th at 3 AM PT / 6 AM ET / 11 AM UK. The event is anticipated to include the announcement of Forza Horizon 6, prompted by a teaser that showcases an urban aesthetic reflective of a new Forza game potentially set in Japan.
