Ursula von der Leyen to Attend Critical Washington Meeting on Ukraine

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will attend a crucial meeting in Washington on Monday between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which is expected to shape the future of the war in Ukraine. Reports 24brussels.

In a post on X, the EU chief announced her upcoming meeting with President Zelenskyy in Brussels, where both leaders will participate in a gathering of the Coalition of the Willing, a group of nations supporting Kyiv.

“At the request of President Zelenskyy, I will join the meeting with President Trump and other European leaders at the White House tomorrow,” von der Leyen confirmed.

Simultaneously, US media reports indicate that President Trump has communicated to European heads of state his intention to facilitate a trilateral summit involving himself, Zelenskyy, and Russian President Vladimir Putin by next Friday.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has proposed that the potential summit could take place at a European location designated for ongoing discussions regarding the conflict.
