Remco Evenepoel Wins European Time Trial Championship Again
Remco Evenepoel was crowned European time trial champion for the second time in his career on Wednesday at the European Cycling Championships in Drôme and Ardèche, France, reports 24brussels.
The Belgian cyclist dominated the 24-kilometre course between Loriol-sur-Drôme and Étoile-sur-Rhône, finishing 43 seconds ahead of Italy’s Filippo Ganna. Denmark’s Niklas Larsen secured the bronze medal, crossing the line 1:08 behind Evenepoel.
Evenepoel’s previous title came in 2019 when he won in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, at just 19 years old. He earned a bronze medal during the 2021 European Championships in Trento, Italy, further establishing his prowess in the discipline.
In a remarkable display of skill and resilience, Evenepoel recently clinched his third consecutive world time trial title in Kigali, Rwanda, just a week and a half prior to this win. He succeeded Italian Edoardo Affini, who was absent from the competition.
