Brussels – David Meekers, 59 years old, chairman of STVV since 2018, suffered a brain hemorrhage and is in a medically-induced coma. His condition is serious.

STVV president David Meekers became ill at home on Friday, March 21, 2025, and was hospitalised. He suffered from a brain hemorrhage, which is a dangerous condition, the doctors said. The doctors put him in a medically induced coma in order to enable him to recover.

Doctors mentioned that they are still checking him to see how much damage there is. People who know Meekers and the football community are worried about him and hoping for good news soon.

What’s next for STVV Chairman David Meekers after hospitalisation?

David Meekers has been a very important leader at STVV since 2018. He took over as co-director after the Japanese owners asked him to.  He’s been a strong leader, making sure the club is stable and growing. He helped STVV through many challenges, both in the games and outside of them. 

Officials mentioned that he’s been good at managing the money and the team, which is why players, staff, and fans respect him. Now that he’s sick, STVV is unsure what will happen next.  Everyone at the club is hoping for Meekers to get better. Meekers owned his own business and sold it to a company called Moore, but he still works with them.
