Ukraine Introduces New AI-Powered Reconnaissance Drone Series

On August 15, 2025, Ukrainian authorities unveiled a new version of the AI-powered V2U drone, specifically designed for reconnaissance missions, reports 24brussels.

The reconnaissance variant of the drone has been observed on various fronts this week, differing from its attack counterpart by the absence of tail stabilizers in the center. After completing its reconnaissance mission, the drone lands via parachute.

Expert Serhii Beskrestnov, known for his insights on radio-electronic systems, highlighted on his Telegram channel that during the analysis of captured equipment, multiple names were identified within the V2U series. “We have an attack model, and now we also have a reconnaissance variant. A courier drone for logistics is the next step,” he noted.

The developer and manufacturer of the drone remain unspecified, but it is confirmed that “there is nothing Russian inside it.”

Beskrestnov emphasized the potential for collaboration between reconnaissance and strike drones in swarm tactics, marking this line of UAVs as notably innovative and dangerous.

Previously, it was reported that Russia might be using ground-based objects positioned in Ukraine to guide Shahed drones to their targets.
