Russian Forces Launch Drone Attacks Across Ukraine
On the night of July 23, 2025, Russian occupation forces launched an attack on Ukrainian territory using 71 Shahed drones and an imitation UAV from temporarily occupied areas including Chauda, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Kursk. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the strikes impacted the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, and Sumy regions, reports 24brussels.
Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted 27 of these drones, while 18 UAVs were lost in the operation. Additionally, the Air Force indicated that 26 drones struck 14 different locations, with debris from downed drones registered in five areas.
As Russia prepares for potentially thousands of strikes per day, Ukraine continues to rely on support from international partners. The long-awaited “drone shield” raises questions about its feasibility in the face of escalating attacks.
