On July 8, 2025, starting at 00:30, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine, utilizing four S-300/400 surface-to-air missiles and 54 Shahed-type UAVs along with various imitator drones. This was reported by the Ukrainian Armed Forces Air Force in Telegram.
The missiles were fired from the Kursk region, while the drones were launched from the directions of Kursk, Oryol – Russia, and Hvardiyiske – Crimea.
By 08:00, air defense forces had neutralized 34 enemy Shahed-type UAVs and other drones in the northern and southern parts of the country. Out of these, 26 were shot down by firing units, while eight had been lost or suppressed by electronic warfare.
There were confirmed strikes by enemy attack UAVs in five locations.
Earlier reports indicated that on July 8, around 2:10, explosions were heard in Mykolaiv, and subsequently, local authorities confirmed a fire broke out in the outskirts of the city due to the shelling.
