Russia Launches Drone Attacks on Ukraine
Starting at 14:00 on July 12, Russia conducted drone attacks across Ukraine, deploying 60 strike UAVs, primarily of the Shahed type, along with various imitation drones. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, approximately 40 of these were indeed Shahed drones, reports 24brussels.
The drones were launched from the directions of Kursk and Millerovo in Russia.
Throughout the day, the enemy targeted rear regions with over 20 Shahed drones; at night, attacks were directed at frontline territories in Donetsk, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Ukrainian defense forces, including aviation, air defense missile troops, electronic warfare units, UAV systems, and mobile fire groups, repelled the aerial assault.
As of 09:00, preliminary reports indicated that Ukraine’s air defense had downed 20 enemy drones of the Shahed type and other UAVs across northern, eastern, western, and central parts of the country. Additionally, 20 imitation drones were lost or suppressed due to electronic warfare.
Impact from 20 drones was recorded in five locations.
Earlier reports indicated that on July 12, around 13:00, in the Sumy community, two residents of a village in the Velikochernechchyna starosta were killed due to an airstrike involving precision-guided munitions.
