Russia Plans New Offensive in Ukraine by End of Summer
German publication Bild, citing a Russian blogger, has reported that Russia is preparing for a new offensive in Ukraine scheduled for late summer, as stated by Andriy Kovalенко, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, who criticized the report. The claims suggest that the Kremlin is considering redeploying forces from border protection for the operation, supposedly to be supported by 30,000 North Korean soldiers, following an announcement from North Korean leader Kim Jong-un about troop deployment.
The Russian blogger alleged that “the Chief of the General Staff personally informed the President about the readiness for a large-scale phase of the operation in the coming months, which will extend beyond the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.”
Kovalенко explained that the Bild publication reveals a complete misunderstanding of both the front situation and ongoing events, noting that Russian offensives have yet to cease since last year. “They are consistently attempting to exert pressure, and there are no ‘new offensives’ as such – there are the redeployment of reserves, changes in tactics, and attempts to engage in border skirmishes,” he stated.
He pointed out that the objectives of the offensives set by Putin have failed since last year, and the Russian army is merely trying to apply pressure through sheer numbers.
This week, a soldier from the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade reported that Russia is relocating forces to the administrative boundary area of Dnipropetrovsk. Prior to this, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed the occupation of the village of Dachne in the Dnipropetrovsk region, which was denied by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
