Russian Offensive in Zaporizhzhia Faces Setbacks Amid Increased Pressure in Donetsk

The head of the Center for Occupation Studies, Petro Andriushchenko, reported that the first wave of the Russian offensive in the Zaporizhzhia region has stalled due to effective resistance by Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF). However, during a broadcast on the “Kyiv 24” channel, he noted that Russia has not abandoned its plans, and the offensive is far from over, reports 24brussels.

Andriushchenko stated, “If this continues throughout the summer, the Russian summer offensive in Zaporizhzhia will effectively be thwarted.”

In the Sumy region, Russian forces are also facing challenges contrary to their portrayal. Concurrently, there is increasing pressure in the Donetsk region. Troops that have been relieved from the Zaporizhzhia front are being redeployed to Donetsk.

He further explained, “We will observe heightened pressure primarily in the Novopavlivka direction, and subsequently, it is clear that they will also focus on the northern fronts – Pokrovsk and Chasiv Yar.”

Previously, the commander of the 65th Separate Motorized Brigade “Velykyi Luh,” known as Forest, remarked that compared to previous years of the full-scale Russian invasion, the intensity of enemy actions in the Zaporizhzhia direction is currently at its highest. The objective of Russian forces is to reach the Mariupol highway, capture Orikhiv, and advance toward Kamianske and Komyshuvakha.
