Russian Forces Target Ukraine with Extensive Airstrikes
In the early hours of June 27, Russian occupiers launched a major air assault on Ukraine, deploying 371 aerial attacks, including 363 attack drones, two Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, and six Calibre cruise missiles. Ukrainian defense forces successfully neutralized 365 aerial threats, reports 24brussels.
The primary target of the attack was located in the city of Starokostyantyniv in the Khmelnytskyi region, which houses a military airbase.
To counter the aerial assault, Ukraine’s defense forces utilized air assets, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare divisions, and mobile fire groups.
“Preliminary data as of 09:30 indicates that 365 enemy aerial threats have been destroyed by air defense forces—217 shot down by fire means, while 148 were lost locationally,” stated military command.
Among the neutralized threats were 211 Shahed drones and six Calibre cruise missiles.
However, there were reports of direct hits from enemy aerial attacks in three locations, as well as debris from shot-down missiles falling across eight areas.
Explosions were reported in the Khmelnytskyi region during the night, occurring at least three times. The Air Force had issued alerts regarding Russian drones and fast-moving targets in the area. Local authorities have not yet provided details on the consequences of the attack.
Damage was also reported in other regions. In the Kyiv region, three districts experienced damage to buildings and one man was injured.
In Zaporizhzhia, Russian forces executed at least six drone strikes, damaging industrial facilities and a garage cooperative. Fires erupted as a result of the assaults.
