Massive Drone Strike Hits Lozova, Ukraine, Leaving Casualties
On August 5, the Russian military launched the largest drone attack on the city of Lozova in Kharkiv Oblast since the onset of the full-scale war, resulting in significant damage to the railway infrastructure, including the station building. One technician from a military unit was killed, and at least ten others were injured, including two children, reports 24brussels.
Among the injured are four employees of “Ukrzaliznytsia,” the state railway company. Preliminary reports indicate that most residents managed to seek shelter during the attack.
The damage to the infrastructure has necessitated changes to the routes of several passenger trains. For example, train No. 66/65 from Uman to Kharkiv is now operating on a detour. Similar adjustments are anticipated for other services in the Kramatorsk direction, with delays expected to reach approximately one hour. Additionally, bus connections have been arranged for passengers arriving to or departing from Lozova to Panutine station.
According to the State Emergency Service, several fire outbreaks were reported as a result of the attack, with ten people injured, including two children. Emergency services are actively working to address the aftermath of the shelling.
Lozova’s city council head, Serhiy Zelensky, noted that the attack inflicted damage on critical infrastructure, including residential buildings. A portion of Lozova is currently without electricity, and there are also interruptions in water supply.
As a reminder, Russian forces continue to modernize their Shahed-type strike drones.
