Drone Attacks Leave Over 50 Settlements in Chernihiv Region Without Power
In a drone attack on the night of August 27, 2025, the town of Novhorod-Siverskyi in the Chernihiv region was left without electricity, affecting 51 settlements, reports 24brussels.
Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv regional military administration, confirmed that efforts are currently underway to restore power after the Russian strike. Emergency responders are addressing the aftermath of the attack.
Chaus noted that medical facilities, communal services, and administrative centers are reliant on alternative energy sources at this time. Additionally, seven “Points of Resilience” have been established in the Novhorod-Siverskyi community to provide support.
Throughout the night, Russian forces targeted gas transportation and energy infrastructure across several regions, including Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Sumy, and Poltava. In Sumy, equipment at a key substation was damaged, leaving a significant portion of the city without power.
President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Russia is undermining preparations for the heating season by attacking natural gas extraction sites and power stations in Ukraine.
