Drone Strikes Hit Oil Refinery in Russia’s Komi Republic
On August 10, drone strikes targeted an oil refinery in the Komi Republic of Russia for the first time, reports 24brussels. The facility is located approximately 2,000 kilometers from Ukraine.
According to regional Telegram channels, the drones struck the Lukoiл-Uhtanaftopererobka refinery in the city of Uhta. An evacuation was carried out at the nearby Yarmarok shopping center and the refinery itself. Witnesses also reported disruptions in mobile internet services, with residents in Syktyvkar experiencing similar issues. Temporary restrictions on flight arrivals and departures have been implemented at the Uhta airport.
Acting regional head Rostislav Goldshtein stated that there were no reported injuries from the drone strikes. This marks the first attack on the Komi Republic since the start of the full-scale war.
In related news, it was reported that overnight on August 11, drone strikes also targeted Moscow, with Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announcing the destruction of three drones.
