Drone Attack Ignites Fire at Russian Train Station in Volgograd Region

On August 4, a fire broke out at the “Archeda” railway station in the Volgograd region of Russia following a drone attack. The incident occurred approximately 420 kilometers from Ukraine’s combat zones, marking a significant escalation in the use of drones in the ongoing conflict, reports 24brussels.

Local Telegram channels shared footage of the fire, prompting regional governor Andrei Bocharov to confirm that firefighters were working to extinguish the blaze at the technical building of the “Archeda” station.

Bocharov further noted that passenger infrastructure at the railway station remained intact, although an unexploded drone was reported on the tracks. This incident has resulted in train service disruptions along that section.

In a related development, Russian aviation authorities announced temporary closures of airports in Volgograd and Tambov “to ensure flight safety.”

This attack follows a series of drone strikes targeting critical infrastructure across various regions of Russia over the past week. Notably, a significant attack recently took place at a railway station in the Rostov region.

Damage has also been reported to critical industrial and military infrastructure in the Ryazan, Penza, and Samara regions. Furthermore, Ukrainian security services have targeted a factory within Russia, as well as an airfield where Shahed drones are stored — drones that Russia is known to deploy in strikes against Ukraine.
