Explosions Halt Gas Pipeline in Volgograd Region

On August 2, 2025, a series of explosions occurred along the ‘Central Asia-Center’ gas pipeline in the Volgograd region, rendering the pipeline inoperable, reports 24brussels.

The pipeline, owned by Gazprom, transports gas from Turkmenistan through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to Russia. Following the explosions, emergency services were dispatched to the site of the incident. Residents of the Dinamovskoe village in the Nikhayevsky district of the Volgograd region reported the arrival of law enforcement and repair teams to address the aftermath of the blasts.

According to a source speaking to journalists, the pipeline supplies gas to several key military-industrial complexes in Russia, including the Demikhovo Machine Building Plant, the Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG, and the Magnum-K ammunition factory, among others.

The Russian gas transportation company, responsible for supplying the Russian army, is currently assessing the damages. Reports indicate that gas transportation via the ‘Central Asia-Center’ pipeline has been suspended indefinitely.

This incident follows a previous explosion on July 5, near Vladivostok, which destroyed sections of the ‘Vladivostok’ main gas pipeline. That explosion, which occurred around 1:00-2:00 AM, resulted in a large-scale fire and impacted gas supply to certain units of the notorious 155th brigade of the Russian Pacific Fleet’s marine corps.
