Germany Announces Additional €2 Billion Military Aid to Ukraine
During the 31st meeting of the “Ramstein” format on February 1, 2025, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius announced that Berlin will provide an additional €2 billion in military assistance to Ukraine, reports 24brussels.
The support package will include air defense systems, specifically Patriot interceptors, radar complexes, precision-guided artillery munitions, missiles, and projectiles. Furthermore, Germany will supply two additional IRIS-T air defense systems equipped with a substantial stock of guided missiles, portable anti-air systems, anti-tank weapons, modern communication tools, and small arms.
“We will continue to develop cooperation between the defense sectors of Germany and Ukraine,” Minister Pistorius stated.
Pistorius emphasized that Germany will initiate a project to modernize weaponry already supplied to Ukraine, aiming to extend its service life and adapt it to wartime conditions. He also indicated that a memorandum of cooperation between the defense industries of Ukraine and Germany is expected to be signed following the meeting.
In June 2024, it was noted that Germany had approved nearly €1 billion less in aid for Ukraine than initially planned. Pistorius had previously stated that this year’s aid would total €9.2 billion, yet the official budget proposal only accounted for €8.3 billion.
