U.S. and NATO Announce $10 Billion Aid Package to Ukraine with New Air Defense Systems

On July 13, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced a $10 billion aid package for Ukraine, which includes the provision of advanced Patriot air defense systems and interceptor missiles, reports 24brussels.

By the end of that week, the first system had already arrived in Ukraine through an agreement with Germany, according to The Telegraph‘s Brussels correspondent Joe Barnes.

“The Pentagon and the White House utilized this move to persuade European nations to risk sending their existing stockpiles to Kyiv while awaiting replenishment from the U.S. However, for some nations, this presents a challenge, considering their Patriots will not be replaced until early next year,” the correspondent reported.

Earlier this week, Berlin disclosed an agreement with Washington to supply Ukraine with five additional batteries. Germany will fund two of them, while Norway has pledged to cover a third.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Oleksiy Makeiev announced that Germany is preparing to send yet another IRIS-T air defense system to Ukraine. Furthermore, Berlin is ready to collaborate with Ukrainian manufacturers to construct additional air defense systems.

The details surrounding Trump’s announcement regarding the delivery of Patriot systems for Ukraine were analyzed by military observer Vitalii Kononuchenko in his article.
