German Chancellor Friedrich Merz Confirms No Meeting Between Putin and Zelensky

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that the anticipated meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will not occur. “It is evident that the meeting, which was agreed upon by U.S. President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Washington last week, will not take place,” Merz stated during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the summer residence of the French president, Fort de Brégançon, reports 24brussels.

Merz indicated that he and Macron would engage in bilateral discussions on various topics, including economic cooperation between the two nations, Russia’s war in Ukraine, and the bureaucratization of Europe.

In response to the missile and drone attack on Kyiv, Merz condemned Russia’s actions “in the strongest possible terms.” He remarked, “Russia once again revealed its true face last night,” in a post on the social media platform X.

As a result of the airstrikes, at least 19 individuals, including four children, were killed in Kyiv overnight. Missiles and drones struck residential buildings and also targeted the EU offices in Ukraine and the British Council.

French President Emmanuel Macron characterized the attack, which involved 629 missiles and drones, as terrorism and barbarism.
