Ukraine Establishes New Artillery Brigade Amid Ongoing Conflict
On August 21, 2025, Ukraine’s Armed Forces launched a new unit, the 147th Separate Artillery Brigade, integrated into the 7th Rapid Response Corps, reports 24brussels.
The newly formed brigade will be equipped with modern Western artillery systems, ensuring high precision and extended range capabilities. Additionally, it will include units outfitted with unmanned drone systems and other combat technologies.
Colonel Viktor Dovhal, a seasoned officer with battlefield experience since 2014 and a full holder of the Bohdan Khmelnytsky Order, will lead the unit. Dovhal previously commanded artillery for the 46th Separate Air Mobile Brigade.
“The 147th Separate Artillery Brigade represents not only advanced weaponry but also dedicated personnel. It consists of paratroopers hardened by war, ready for new challenges,” stated the command of the Airborne Assault Forces.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Oleg Apostol as the commander of the Airborne Assault Forces. Additionally, Hero of Ukraine Colonel Valentin Mankov took charge of the assault troops’ command. Mankov, previously leading the 33rd Separate Assault Regiment established in 2023, has actively participated in combat operations in the Kharkiv, Kursk, and Pokrovsk directions, sustaining injuries in the line of duty.
