Ukrainian Forces Destroy North Korean Rocket System Using Drone Strike

Ukrainian drone forces recently eliminated a rare piece of enemy equipment, specifically a North Korean-made M1991 multiple launch rocket system, in the Novopavlivka direction. This was reported by the press service of the drone forces.

According to the unit, operators from the 413th “Raid” Battalion detected and struck the M1991 using a combat drone. Military sources indicated that the pilot successfully hit a shell located in the launcher, triggering a sequence of explosions that destroyed the entire combat vehicle.

“The strike was precise – the drone hit one of the munitions in the guidance package, leading to an internal explosion. The crew cabin was effectively pierced through, followed by a detonation of all munitions on board,” the report stated.

The M1991 is a modernized version of the Soviet-era “Uragan,” developed in North Korea. Unlike its predecessor, the M1991 has a caliber of 240 mm and a maximum range of 60 km.

The presence of this weapon in the arsenal of Russian forces was first confirmed in April 2025 through released video evidence.

This successful strike highlights the effectiveness of Ukrainian attack drones on the battlefield and underscores the increasing role of drone systems in detecting and neutralizing high-tech enemy equipment.

Furthermore, previous reports indicated that Russia utilizes over 200 foreign-sourced components in its Kh-101 missiles.

In conclusion, the incident reinforces the ongoing developments in military technology and tactics employed by Ukrainian forces. Ukrainian drone operations, North Korean weaponry, military effectiveness, M1991 rocket system, precision drone strikes and battlefield innovations are critical factors in this ongoing conflict, reports 24brussels.
