Norway Allocates $696 Million to Strengthen Ukraine’s Air Defense
On August 24, 2025, the Norwegian government announced a substantial allocation of approximately seven billion Norwegian kroner (over 696 million USD) aimed at bolstering Ukraine’s air defense systems, reports 24brussels.
This funding will specifically support the procurement of two Patriot missile defense systems in collaboration with Germany, as well as the associated missiles currently located in Germany.
Additionally, Norway will aid in the acquisition of air defense radars produced by the German manufacturer Hensoldt and air defense systems from Kongsberg.
“Air defense is also vital for the protection of military units and critical infrastructure. By joining forces with Germany, we further enhance our support,” emphasized Norwegian Defense Minister Tore Sandvik.
In July, U.S. President Donald Trump announced preparations to send 17 Patriot systems to Ukraine. The U.S. State Department has approved the sale of equipment and services to support American air defense systems already in service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
