Russian Forces Claim Control Over Kupiansk, Ukrainian Officials Dispute Evidence
On July 24, 2025, Russian occupying forces asserted that they had entered the city of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region. However, spokesperson for the Operational Strategic Group of Forces “Khortytsia,” Viktor Trehubov, stated that these claims do not reflect the actual situation, reports 24brussels.
Trehubov indicated that the aggressor’s army is attempting to advance from the north towards Kupiansk, but their assault efforts have consistently ended in failure.
“There are a large number of information operations being conducted by the Russians, claiming they are almost there (in Kupiansk),” the spokesperson explained.
He noted that fighting continues close to Kupiansk, just a few kilometers away. “However, Russian troops have been unable to cover these kilometers for a very long time,” he added.
Analysts from DeepState reported that Russian forces had recently advanced near the village of Radkivka, part of the Kindrashivka village community, located near Kupiansk. In June, Russian troops gained a foothold in the village of Kindrashivka, effectively creating a so-called “enclave.” The head of the Kupiansk District Military Administration, Andriy Kanashvich, emphasized that the occupiers lack logistical support in that area.
