Russia Comments on U.S. Suspension of Arms Supplies to Ukraine
On July 2, 2025, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov addressed reports of the United States suspending arms supplies to Ukraine during a briefing with Russian media. He speculated that the suspension may be linked to “empty stockpiles” and “lack of arms” in the U.S., reports 24brussels.
Peskov asserted, “The less weaponry supplied to Ukraine, the closer the end of the ‘special military operation’.” He also commented on potential plans for a new meeting between Russian and Ukrainian delegations, expressing expectation for the scheduling of the third round of negotiations to be finalized soon.
Peskov stated, “This is a joint process.”
Yesterday evening, several Western media outlets reported that the United States has suspended the supply of certain types of munitions to Ukraine, including interceptors for Patriot systems and 155mm caliber shells. This decision, confirmed by U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Gantz, was explained as a necessary revision of relevant stockpiles in the U.S. White House spokesperson Anna Kelly added that the decision was made in consideration of national interests.
