Poland Urges Europe to Prepare Continued Support for Ukraine

Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski on October 15, 2025, called for Europe to plan support for Ukraine for the next three years, coinciding with expectations in Kyiv regarding the duration of the ongoing conflict, reports 24brussels.

Sikorski emphasized the need for Europe to brace for a deep Russian incursion into the region, criticizing the decision not to establish defensive structures, such as a “drone wall,” along its eastern flank as “irresponsible.”

“Ukrainians are planning this war for three years, which is a prudent decision. We need to convince Putin that we are prepared to adhere to this course for at least these three years,” Sikorski stated.

Furthermore, the Polish Defense Minister expressed hope that U.S. President Donald Trump would provide long-range Tomahawk missiles to bolster strikes against Russian infrastructure. He highlighted that Europe must supply Ukraine with more munitions, including anti-aircraft systems and short- to medium-range weapons, for its own protection.

In response to inquiries about possibly expanding the drone wall initiative to counter future invasions, Sikorski told Reuters that Russia could “unfortunately reach deep into Europe.”

“We must be ready to counter this, so I believe that not creating opportunities to combat drones and their use in our day would be irresponsible,” the Polish government representative added.

According to The Atlantic, the current escalation by Russia is merely a shadow of the scale of the war in 2022, when hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers, tanks, and planes invaded Ukraine. The author notes that Russia does not currently control all of Ukraine, nor even the territories it claimed under its own constitution.
