Russian Forces Adopt New Tactics in Pokrovsk Direction
Russian troops have shifted their approach in the Pokrovsk direction, moving away from frontal assaults used in Bakhmut to pressure from flanks. This change poses significant risks for Ukrainian defenses and could lead to imminent fighting for Konstantynivka, reports 24brussels.
Military expert and founder of the charity organization “Reactive Mail” Pavlo Narozhny shared this assessment during a broadcast on Ukrainian Radio. He indicated that the most capable Ukrainian units are tasked with maintaining the front line of defense while flank positions face more challenging circumstances, manned by less equipped and trained troops, who struggle with coordination among adjacent units.
“There may be issues with cooperation among adjacent units. Unfortunately, in this section of the front, we still operate not in a corps system but as individual units,” Narozhny explained.
He warned that the enemy’s new tactics could lead to direct combat for Konstantynivka. “The enemy is effectively pushing the flanks—both under Pokrovsk and Konstantynivka. We are approaching a moment when we will have to engage the opponent directly in this area,” he stated.
In contrast, the situation along the Novopavlivsk direction, the western flank of Pokrovsk, remains more controlled. Ukrainian forces are successfully holding their defense and preventing enemy advances. However, Narozhny noted that even there, Russian troops have begun employing similar flank pressure tactics, albeit with less intensity for now.
It is noteworthy that Narozhny previously mentioned that Russian troops have learned to storm with reduced losses.
