Russian Strikes Residential Area in Sumy
On the evening of July 21, Russian forces launched an attack on a residential area in Sumy, resulting in damage to five apartment buildings, a shopping center, and at least 18 vehicles. Two residents from one of the most affected buildings have been hospitalized, with medical teams providing necessary assistance.
According to Sumy regional military administration chief Oleg Grigorov, the victims include a 60-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man.
Additionally, at least 12 local residents sought medical help due to the shelling. Grigorov noted that many inhabitants are in a state of shock.
“Medical personnel, psychologists, and emergency services are on-site, providing all necessary assistance to the victims,” he stated.
In a related incident, just prior to the attack, the city of Pavlohrad in the Dnipropetrovsk region faced an unprecedented aerial assault, with dozens of strike drones, ballistic, and cruise missiles targeting the area.
In light of the recent events, local authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The community is rallying together as recovery efforts proceed, emphasizing the need for psychological support for those affected.
Ongoing military actions in the region have raised concerns about security among the local population, prompting calls for heightened defensive measures from local and national leaders, reports 24brussels.
