Russian Attack on Ukraine Involves Ballistic Missiles and Drones
In the early hours of September 13, Russian forces launched a significant attack on Ukraine utilizing a ballistic missile, the Iskander-M/KN-23, along with 164 drones, including Shahed and Gerbera models, reports 24brussels.
The aggressive operation involved drone launches from multiple directions, including Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, and Millievka in Russia. Approximately 90 of the deployed drones were identified as Shahed.
In response, Ukraine’s defense employed aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups to counter the aerial assault. Initial reports indicate that by 09:00, the Ukrainian air defense had intercepted or neutralized 137 hostile drones across the northern, southern, eastern, and central regions of the country.
Impact assessments revealed that missiles and 27 strike drones hit nine locations, with debris from intercepted drones landing at three sites.
Earlier reports highlighted an explosion in Sumy during the initial minutes of the new day, coinciding with the air assault.
