Massive Drone Attack on Ukraine by Russian Forces

On the night of July 15, 2025, Russian military forces launched an extensive attack on Ukraine, deploying 267 combat drones, including Shaheds and various imitator drones, from multiple locations including Bryansk, Kursk, and occupied areas in Donetsk. Approximately 200 of these drones were identified as Shahed-type, reports 24brussels.

As of 1:00 PM on July 15, Ukrainian air defense forces had intercepted 178 hostile Shahed drones across northern, southern, eastern, and central Ukraine. Additionally, 66 imitator drones were lost or suppressed by electronic warfare systems.

The aerial assault involved a coordinated defense response that included aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile firing groups from the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

While Russia prepares to potentially launch up to a thousand Shahed drones daily, Ukraine continues to seek support from international partners. The effectiveness of the promised drone shield remains a topic of debate amidst these developments.
