Russia launches Iskander missiles and drones at Ukraine, but air defense intercepts many targets

Russian Assault on Ukraine: Multiple Ballistic Missiles and Drones Deployed

During the night of August 15, starting from 19:30 on August 14, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine using two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 97 Shahed-type strike drones along with various imitation drones, reports 24brussels.

The aggressors fired their missiles from the Voronezh and Bryansk regions, while the drones were launched from directions including Kursk, Orel, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Shatalovo.

The strike targeted frontline areas in Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, and Chernihiv regions. The ballistic missile attacks were concentrated on Kharkiv and Chernihiv.

The Air Assault was repelled by aviation, electronic warfare units, drone systems, and mobile fire groups from Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Preliminary reports as of 08:00 indicate that air defense successfully shot down or suppressed 63 enemy Shahed drones and various imitation drones in northern and eastern Ukraine.

In total, missile impacts and 34 drones were recorded at 13 locations.

Earlier, on August 14, it was reported that Russian forces carried out 21 strikes on cities in their breakthrough zone in the Donetsk region, resulting in one civilian casualty and three injuries.
