Russia launches mass shelling on two cities in Donetsk region, eight killed

Russian Forces Target Donetsk Cities, Resulting in Fatalities

On July 9, 2025, Russian military forces launched drone and aviation bomb attacks on the cities of Rodynske and Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. As a result of these terrorist actions, eight civilians were killed, according to the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office, reports 24brussels.

In Rodynske, the attackers targeted two vehicles using FPV drones. In one vehicle, two individuals were burned alive, while in the other vehicle, the driver and two passengers suffered fatal injuries.

Approximately ten minutes later, Russian forces struck Kostiantynivka with two 250-kilogram aerial bombs equipped with universal gliding and correction modules. Three men aged 42, 53, and 71, who were on the street during the airstrike, sustained injuries incompatible with life. A 59-year-old man was also injured in the attack. The city experienced damage to an infrastructure facility, with 20 residential buildings and an administrative building affected.

Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk regional military administration, indicated that the Russians attacked a vehicle distributing humanitarian aid, injuring two drivers.

Earlier this week, Russian forces killed four individuals in Kostiantynivka.
