Russia Launches Major Drone Assault on Ukraine
In the early hours of August 25, Russian forces conducted a significant drone attack against Ukraine, deploying a total of 104 Shahed strike drones alongside various imitation drones. This information was confirmed by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram, reports 24brussels.
The drones were launched from multiple directions, including Kursk, Shatalovo, Orel, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia. Ukrainian air defense units, including aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups from the Ukrainian defense forces, engaged in repelling the aerial assault.
As of 08:00, preliminary data indicated that Ukrainian air defense systems had successfully intercepted or suppressed 76 hostile Shahed drones and imitation drones in the northern and eastern regions of Ukraine.
Evidence of the assault shows that 28 drones struck 15 locations, with debris from intercepted drones landing across four sites. In another report, it was noted that the drone strikes impacted areas in the Sumy region, specifically the Sumy and Romny communities, resulting in fires at the sites of impact.
