Russia Relocates Military Production to North Korea

The Russian Federation has partially relocated its military-industrial complex to North Korea in an effort to enhance the quality of munitions produced there, reports 24brussels.

Ivan Tymochko, head of the Reserve Council of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, disclosed on the “We are Ukraine” channel that initial deliveries of missiles and artillery shells from North Korea failed to meet the requirements of the Russian army and exhibited significant technical flaws.

“The North Korean munitions supplied initially were of low quality. They did not conform to tactical standards, were incompatible with Russian guidance systems, and did not fit into their firing tables,” Tymochko stated.

This led the Kremlin to decide to shift part of its production capabilities to North Korean territory. Apart from technological reasons, security considerations also played a role in this decision.

“One key motive is the attempt to move critical military-industrial assets out of reach of Ukrainian missiles and drones. This reduces the risks of strikes on defense infrastructure within Russia,” the military official explained.

Experts estimate that this collaboration between Moscow and Pyongyang indicates a deepening relationship in arms supplies and Russia’s increasing dependence on external munitions sources amid its ongoing war against Ukraine.

Earlier reports suggested that North Korea might send up to 30,000 military personnel to Russia to assist in the war against Ukraine, in addition to the already 11,000 currently engaged on the front lines.
