Russia strikes critical infrastructure in Sumy region, leaving part of the community without power

Russian Forces Intensify Drone Strikes on Sumy Region

On July 27, 2025, Russian troops conducted drone strikes against critical infrastructure in the Sumy region for the second consecutive day. As a result of the attacks, part of the Sumy community was left without electricity, according to Oleg Grigorov, head of the Sumy regional military administration, reports 24brussels.

Energy workers are currently engaged in repair efforts, striving to restore power to local residents as swiftly as possible.

Grigorov also indicated that during the day, Russian forces targeted the residential sector in the Kovalivka district of Sumy. Damage has been reported to homes and non-residential buildings, with approximately 50 windows shattered in high-rise buildings.

The aggressors have intensified their attacks using drones and aviation against Sumy and its surroundings. The day before, Russian troops struck with kamikaze drones in Independence Square, causing damage to the premises of the Sumy regional state administration. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among staff and residents of the city.
